Haiku's story - whiten by Hotaru13
Haiku was walking along the river path, dreaming like he always was. His attention was never where it should be, always off working on the next poem or current dream. At first he didn't hear the soft cry out of his name, but when it became more insistent, he looked around. The voice sounded familiar, but he couldn't really tell who it was. "Great, Mom's friend, Rei, that's who's calling out to me. . I wonder what she wants."

Rei caught up with him and puffed a little, running in her outfit was never fun. "Haiku, I need a favor. I want you to create a small poem about the ceremony that is going on...that you should get to by the way. Its what your mom would want." "Umm, ok..I guess I could write something for you to read....Give me a bit here and I will let you know"

Haiku sat at the base of a large redwood tree, contemplating what to write. This should come easy to him, but for some reason he was having a more difficult time than usual. As he stood up he decided to go off to the gathering to see if there was anything that would inspire him.

Haiku meandered down the trails observing the woods and listening to the birds crying out to each other, as if saying not to worry...the words will come and you will create what needs to be created. Softy a dragonfly buzzed nearby him, its translucent wings shimmering in the dappled sunlight. "That's it!!! That's what I needed to see! Mom always told me that the dragonfly was special to us. It meant that we were being guided to the task at hand!" He reached under his obi and grabbed the notepad he kept hidden there. Writing fast, he managed to write out a sense of the growing tension and excitement at the coming ceremonies that he was finally going to be a part of.

He looked up an hour later at the sounds of soft footsteps. It was Rei looking for him, a worried expression upon her brow. "Haiku, there you are!!! Where have you been all this time?" He realized that he had been writing for so long that he had lost all track of time. "I'm sorry Rei, but i was just finishing up what you asked of me. I think it may work for what you wanted, but I'm afraid that it isn't too short. It came out longer than I expected." Shyly he handed it to her, and she raised one eyebrow in surprise. The darn thing was 2 pages long! "Well, no one can say that you aren't thorough that's for sure. But I think that this will be just fine."
