Tiri Qumar's story - written by .:Lapis_Lazuli:.
Late one night, Tiri was woken from her slumber by what sounded like... sobbing? Who could be crying? Upon looking around, she became even more confused when she saw her father, grandmother, and uncle all fast asleep. Though, the crying noises still went on. Of course, she stood up to double check everyone, but still, no one was crying. What the heck was going on? Was she hearing things??

Trying to pinpoint where exactly this was coming from, Tiri moved over to the front door. Sure enough- it was louder. Someone outside? Despite her usual nature, Tiri let curiosity overcome her. She slowly, quietly, opened the door- glancing over her shoulder, as to make sure she hadn't woken anyone up. Luckily, the most anyone did was turn or shift in their sleep- nothing more.

With a small exhale, the Keeper continued outside. No doubt she'd be scolded for this later... but for some reason... she felt the need to find out where that voice was coming from.

The night air was cold, causing her to shiver almost immediately after stepping outside. She glanced around, the crying echoing into her head continuously. Whatever was doing this must have been seriously in a bad mood to cry this much.

As her head turned to the left- toward the foresty area outside her house- Tiri's eyes narrowed. She could have sworn she saw a white colored figure sitting there. She rubbed her eyes, making sure she wasn't imagining things, but even after that- she could still see that figure. Though her heart felt as if it could beat right out of her chest, she began in that direction, cautiously.

"... Hello...? Are you okay...?" She asked in her usual, calm and slightly quiet tone. No response. She wasn't sure what else to do- though- as she stood there, she thought she heard this... person say what sounded like a name.

"... Um..." What should she say? Maybe she shouldn't say anything... and just walk away. Though... something was keeping her from doing so.

"... Why did they leave me?" The figure suddenly said in a rather... creepy sort of voice. It gave the Keeper chills, but... something about what they said worried her. 'Leave them'? Who left them?

"... Who left you...?" Tiri asked quietly- suddenly highly curious.

"... My friends... they... abandoned me..."

Tiri's eyes widened. This person... answered? Why did that seem so odd to her? That's when she noticed... this person... they... they were see-through. She could see the trunk of the tree through their torso, the grass underneath where they sat. What was going on?

"... Your friends...? Why did they leave you?" Why the heck was she asking so many questions? This person obviously wasn't human! What if they were faking their tears and attacked her? No... she was thinking too much-- that was nonsense.

"... I don't know... they left me here... all alone... I haven't seen them for... so long..."

Tiri was curious as to how long they were left here, how long since they saw their friend's faces... but that wasn't the main topic right now. She wouldn't worry about it. Well, not too much.

"... Is there anything I can do...? Do you know where they are...?" She asked, kneeling down.

"... They are... far... far away..." The person replied. That voice was getting creepier and creepier with every word. Tiri felt her heart sink. She couldn't go too far from the house. If someone woke up, and didn't see her- being too far away could cause a serious panic. Right then, she felt useless.

Maybe... Maybe- since she couldn't personally help them back to their friends- she could somehow comfort this... spirit? That's what Tiri had come to call it- a spirit. Seeing as they weren't human... were a foggy white... and see-through. Matched the description of a ghost, right?

It was definitely unlike her, but despite this- Tiri got up onto her knees, leaned forward- and wrapped her arms around this ghost.

"... I'm sorry I can't be of much help... but... it'll be okay. So... don't cry, alright?" She said, trying her best not to sound like an idiot. The ghost didn't reply, only sitting there- a stunned look on their face. It took this 'close' inspection- it soon became clear that this ghost was female. Don't know how she didn't notice that sooner.

"... Wait here. I'll be right back." Tiri said, before getting to her feet, and walking back to the house. The ghost sat there silently, watching as the Keeper disappeared within the building. Was she going to leave them too? Was she going to be left behind again? No... this girl was different. She just knew it.

Tiri soon came back out, something wrapped within her hand. Puzzled by this, the ghost raised an eyebrow.

"... What are you--" Cutting itself off, the ghost was caught off guard by Tiri reaching up- wrapping a scarf around their neck. To Tiri's surprise... it actually stuck. She shrugged that off, smiling lightly.

"It's cold out here... so... you can wear that." She said. The ghost's eyes widened, before letting them close- a small smile forming on their face.

"Tiri? Tiri, are you out here?"

Tiri's own eyes widened upon hearing her father's voice. She turned her head- seeing him standing in the doorway, looking around with a distraught look on his face. She frowned slightly, turning back to the ghost,

"I... I gotta go. Um... bye. And... you can keep that scarf." She said with a wave. As she moved closer to the house, the Keeper glanced over her shoulder again- only to see small sparkles floating up into the air. She followed them with her eyes for a moment, before noticing the ghost had... disappeared.

"... Thank you..." The familiar voice echoed through her ears. Though she was confused by this, she couldn't help but smile lightly to herself. Had she really helped? Maybe... Maybe this is what would be best for her to watch over- lonely, abandoned spirits. Looking away slowly, the Keeper walked up to the house- joining her father as she went back inside.
