Beanari's story - written by toramonger
Beanari cracked her eyes open and let out a yawn as she stretch her arms above her head. Letting out another, this time covered yawn she at up and swung her legs over the edge of her bed. Shaking her head a bit she climbed to her feet and stretched some more before going about getting ready for her day. After getting dressed and putting her hair up she made her way down stairs were all was still quite and dark. Last night her father had left to make sure the Blizzard that was due to hit all of the woods went well, her sister had gone with him since it had been moonless. The pair had probably gotten back late, leaving Beanari to herself today.

Smiling to herself Beanari grabbed a quick bowl of cereal before venturing out side. A shiver of delight ran down her spine as she stepped out. The ground was coated in at least five inches of snow, starting about five feet from the house which seemed to be surrounded by a invisible ring that kept all but the lightest of snow from falling on it. "One of these day's I'm going to get dad to teach me that one." Beanari said out loud as she began to make her way out of the yard.

Stopping just a little away from were the snow really started Beanari bent her knees and with a hope crunched into the cold wet stuff. Giggling a bit she climbed out of the snow and with a softly spoken spell she had managed to wiggle from her father set her feet upon the top of the snow and continued on her way without sinking into it. Making it to the first break in the pass she smiled down the narrow winding trail and closing her eyes smiled as the cold mountain wind whistled out of it tossing her hair about, in what might be considered a greeting. "Hello to you too! Keep up the good work!" she called softy as the wind seemed to turn back to were it had come.

Humming low to herself she continued along her way along the twisting trails that lead down from the top of the mountain she called home and into the heart of the mountain trails that lead threw the range, a few even lead down to the woods below. Her eyes caught on a trail that lead to a cliff and paused. Something was off...but she couldn't quite put her finger on what. Tilting her head to the side she slowly and carefully made her way to the seldom used trail.

As she stepped around the bend that lead to the cliff she paused again looking around. The snow was piled high, the shadows were deep, but something wasn't quite right. Tugging at one of her pigtails she let a frown mar her face as she continue to think. Slowly her eye's widened and she looked around the snow was falling now, strait down it went. "Oh were is the wind? Were has your wind gone little cliff?" she asked as what was wrong suddenly hit her, this cliff should be home to a though wind. An old one that had been here for a long long time, but now it was no were to be seen, or felt rather.

Casting about she called out "Were have you gone old timer? Have you gotten lost?" when only her voice echoed back at her she turned and left the cliff beginning her search. For hours she searched, asking each wind in turn if they had felt the missing one pass by. With no clue as to were it could have gone she turned to look down the one trail she had not traveled. Surly it wouldn't have gone down the mountain? But if not then were could it be. She thought to herself. Setting her shoulders she set off down the trail.

After another hour she felt a sudden disturbance. Pausing she listened to the wind that lived here. It was a friendly wind, this one but it was obviously distressed. After another minuet her eyes widened as what the wind knew settled into her. It had come this way, the old one had com this way, and not long ago either! Calling out a "Thank you!" over her shoulder she rushed down the trail frantic to catch the wind before it hit the woods below, who knew if she would ever be able to find it if it got that far.

Taking a sudden sharp turn she felt the edges of it as it rushed away from her and reaching out her hands caught hold of it with a gentle but firm grip. The wind halted with a jolt and seemed to circle back around her angrily a low hum from it echoed around them. "Sorry old one, but this is not the way home. This way is not good for you, your cliff is waiting for you this way." she said gesturing over her shoulder as the wind seemed to blunder about in confusion a bit before almost hesitantly starting the way she pointed, but after a while it turned and seemed to look for comfort from Beanari.

"There, there I'll get you home, just come with me and we'll be there in no time!" Beanari murmured to it as she petted it softly with a hand before turning to lead the way back up the mountain. By the time they made it back to the cliff the sun had begun its final decent of the day. "See here we are!" Beanari exclaimed as the old wind rushed from around her shoulders were it had settled and into the cliff. As it settled in and picked up the snow still falling tossing it about she smiled. "Don't wonder off again now, I'll see you tomorrow!" she called as she turned to head home. If she didn't get home soon father would come looking for her, and she didn't want to worry him. As she began to walk the wind ruffled her hair causing her to smile as she went.
